Priene – The First Planned Greek City

Priene dates back to 2000 BC and was one of the 12 cities of the Ionian League. Known for its strategic hilltop location, it was one of the earliest cities designed on a grid plan.

The Temple of Athena – Designed by Pythius, the architect of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The Theater of Priene – A well-preserved 5,000-seat Greek theater, where political and cultural events took place.
The Agora & Bouleuterion – The marketplace and council chamber where leaders gathered to govern the city.
The Byzantine Church – Evidence of early Christian influence on the city.

Miletos was one of the most influential Ionian cities, known for its brilliant philosophers and scientists, including:

The Grand Theater of Miletos – Originally seating 5,000 spectators, later expanded to 15,000 people.

The Delphinion – A small temple dedicated to Apollo Delphinion, the protector of sailors.

Didyma was not a city but a sacred sanctuary, home to one of the most famous oracles in the ancient world.

The Temple of Apollo – The largest Ionian temple, built over 150–200 years.
The Oracle of Didyma – Once more famous than Delphi, drawing people from across the Mediterranean.
The Medusa Heads – Giant stone Medusa carvings guarding the temple from evil.
The Sacred Way – A ritual processional road linking Didyma to Miletos.
Byzantine Church Ruins – Built over the ruins of the Apollo temple during the Christian era.
