Isa Bey Mosque – A Timeless Architectural Wonder

The Entrance & Layout
✔️ The mosque has two main entrances, one to the east and one to the west.
✔️ Western wall: Features intricate Arabic inscriptions & geometric patterns.
The Courtyard
✔️ A large, open courtyard welcomes visitors.
✔️ Features a central fountain once used for ablutions.
Prayer Hall & Columns
✔️ The mosque’s interior is supported by columns from the ruins of Ephesus, showcasing recycled Roman & Byzantine elements.
✔️ High ceilings & stained-glass windows allow natural light to illuminate the mosque.
The Mihrab (Prayer Niche)
✔️ The mihrab (prayer niche facing Mecca) is decorated with fine Islamic calligraphy & floral motifs.
✔️ Reflects Seljuk artistry combined with Ottoman influences.
The Minarets
✔️ Originally, two minarets flanked the mosque, but only one remains partially intact.
✔️ The western minaret is ruined, while the brick minaret still stands but has a damaged balcony.
