Kaklik Cave – The Hidden Pamukkale
Kaklik Cave, also known as Kaklik Magarası or the “Pamukkale Cave,” is located about 45 kilometers from Pamukkale. This underground wonder is filled with travertine waters, stalagmites, stalactites, and high concentrations of sulfur, which give the cave a distinct odor.
Formation & Geology
Age: Formed over 2.5 million years ago during the Pliocene Period.
Formation: The cave was created by geothermal activity, and its roof collapsed, allowing natural entry.
Depth: Maximum depth of 14 meters.
Inside the Cave
Natural Features: The cave contains rimstone pools, waterfalls, and thermal waters believed to have healing properties for skin diseases and arthritis.
Flora: Some walls receive enough sunlight to allow moss and climbing plants to grow, adding to the cave’s unique atmosphere.
Exploration: A 190-meter wooden walkway guides visitors through a circular route, taking approximately 30 minutes to explore.
Kaklik Cave offers a stunning underground landscape similar to Pamukkale but in a hidden, lesser-known setting.
