Possibly Antalya’s most famous historical landmark, Hadrian’s Gate is a magnificent triple-arched gateway marking the entrance to Kaleici (Antalya’s Old Town). Built in 130 AD to commemorate Emperor Hadrian’s visit to the city, this imposing Roman structure remains one of the best-preserved examples of Roman architecture in the region. Standing in the heart of Antalya, Hadrian’s Gate is located along Ataturk Boulevard, near the Hadrian tram stop, making it one of the city’s top attractions.

The three large arches stand over 4 meters wide and 6 meters high, with the entire structure reaching 8 meters due to its thick stone frame. Four intricately carved marble columns on either side add to its majestic appearance, adorned with rich floral cornices.
Interestingly, the two towers flanking Hadrian’s Gate are from different historical periods:
This unique combination of Roman and Seljuk architecture showcases Antalya’s long and layered history.
