Where to stay in Bodrum

Once the ancient Greek city of Halicarnassus, Bodrum is now one of Turkey’s most dynamic coastal destinations. What was a sleepy fishing village until the 1960s has grown into a buzzing hotspot, balancing its ancient heritage with a modern, cosmopolitan edge.

Bodrum is also the birthplace of the traditional Turkish gulet. Cruising on one of these wooden sailing boats through the crystal-clear Aegean is a highlight for many visitors. Gulets anchor in quiet coves, giving passengers a chance to swim, snorkel, or simply bask in the sun with the sea all around.
